It might be noted that the process of appointing new heads for the district units of the party has been going on and recently the party leadership announced names of 19 new district presidents. But, the party has not appointed Khammam district president yet.

It is said that the party leadership is facing a challenge to finalise a name for the post as the BC community leaders have intensified their efforts to get the post and are putting pressure on the party. The BC leaders are arguing that so far no leader from BC, SC, ST or minority communities made the president of Khammam district unit and a BC leader must be made the district president this time, source said.

The leaders belonging to Reddy, Vysya, Velama and Kamma held the BJP district president post so far. As part of the ongoing organisational elections, leaders like S.Uday Pratap (Vyasya), G.Satyanarayana and N.Ravi Kumar (both Kamma), BC leaders S Papa Rao, D.Satyanarayana and EV Ramesh are in the fray. The party’s district election officer has recently visited the district and collected the opinions of the senior cadres regarding the election of the district president.

The BC leaders are stating that the representation of the community has increased in the district and hence the district president position should be given to a leader belonging to the community. Those aspiring for the position are approaching state level BC leaders to support their claim.
