Bhoodan Land Encroachment: Three Arrested

Khammam/Hyderabad: Khanapuram Haveli police arrested three persons for alleged encroachment on Bhoodan and government lands in the Velugumatla revenue area of Khammam urban mandal. The arrests followed complaints of illegal occupation and cheating linked to house plots.

According to the Inspector of Police, the accused are Talluri Krishna and Mankidi Linga Raju of Vinoba Navodaya Colony, along with Mudiga Ramulu of Mulagudem in Khammam urban mandal. Police arrested them on Wednesday. Authorities said the three formed a gang and falsely claimed they were members of the OPDR Bhoodan Committee.

Bhoodan Land Encroachment in Velugumatla revenue area

Police said the accused collected Rs. 40,000 to Rs. 1 lakh each from innocent people. They allegedly promised house plots in Bhoodan lands. However, they later illegally occupied Bhoodan lands, government lands, and private patta lands. They also built sheds on these lands. Furthermore, they cheated some people by offering to sell the occupied lands.

Officials said the activities took place in the Velugumatla revenue area in Khammam urban mandal. The police statement confirmed that the accused targeted Bhoodan and government lands. Therefore, the case now includes charges related to encroachment and cheating.

Forest officials attacked during fencing work

Police also stated that on February 7, the accused, along with colony residents, illegally entered forest land in compartment No. 40 under Velugumatla revenue limits. At that time, Forest officials were carrying out fencing work to fix the borders of the lands. However, the accused allegedly obstructed and attacked the officials.

The Inspector said the investigation is ongoing in these cases. Meanwhile, police urged anyone who was cheated in this matter to file a complaint. The arrests mark a key step in the Bhoodan Land Encroachment case in Khammam. Further action will depend on the outcome of the investigation.
