- Bhooth Bangla release shift due to Dhurandhar success
- Akshay Kumar film gets new date amid box office surge
Mumbai, April 3: The makers of ‘Bhooth Bangla’ have postponed the film’s release to April 16, 2026. The horror comedy stars Akshay Kumar and was earlier scheduled to release on April 10. The decision follows the strong performance of ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’.
Co producer Ektaa Kapoor shared the update on Instagram. She confirmed that the new release date will begin with the first show at 9 pm on April 16. The change came after discussions with distributors and exhibitors.
She said, “After a collective call with our distributors and the exhibitors, we have decided on a new release date for ‘Bhooth Bangla’, 16 April, with the first show starting at 9 pm. ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ performing exceptionally well is heartening news for our film industry and the exhibitors feel that this shift will allow both films the space, focus and attention they deserve. The ‘Bhooth Bangla’ team looks forward to welcoming you in cinemas on April 16, 9 pm onwards”.
Meanwhile, ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, starring Ranveer Singh, continues to perform strongly at the box office. Therefore, exhibitors suggested a shift to avoid a clash and give both films better visibility.
‘Bhooth Bangla’ features a strong cast including Wamiqa Gabbi, Paresh Rawal, Tabu, Rajpal Yadav, Jisshu Sengupta, and Mithila Palkar. The film also marks the reunion of Akshay Kumar with director Priyadarshan. The duo is known for delivering popular comedy films in the past, which has raised expectations among audiences.
The film is presented by Balaji Motion Pictures, a division of Balaji Telefilms Ltd, in association with Cape of Good Films. It is produced by Akshay Kumar, Shobha Kapoor, and Ektaa R Kapoor.
Meanwhile, the shift in release date allows ‘Dacoit’, starring Adivi Sesh, Anurag Kashyap, and Mrunal Thakur, to have a solo release on April 10, 2026. The film is produced by Supriya Yarlagadda.
The postponement reflects a strategic move by the makers. It aims to ensure better box office performance and audience reach for both films.
