During the hearing, the High Court said that there was a need to investigate the facts mentioned in the petition. The High Court reserved its decision after completing the hearing of the case on September 12. In this petition, Siddaramaiah challenged the Governor. Thavarchand Gehlot’s approval to investigate him in the MUDA case.

Delivering its judgment on the Mysore Urban Development Authority case on Tuesday, the High Court said that the Governor can try the case according to law. A bench comprising Justice M Naga Prasanna while issuing this judgment said that the Governor can make an independent decision.

According to the order of the Governor, the Chief Minister should be prosecuted. He said there was no error in the Governor’s action. Earlier, several senior advocates including Supreme Court advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi appeared on behalf of Siddaramaiah. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta was present on behalf of Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot.  Apart from this, lawyers Snemayi Krishna and TJ Abraham also heard their arguments on behalf of the complainants.

The complainant alleged that MUDA had illegally allotted 14 plots in a prime area of Mysore to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife. In that order, the Karnataka High Court gave temporary relief to Siddaramaiah in the interim order given on August 19. Apart from this, the special court in bengaluru ordered that the further proceedings be postponed and no hasty steps be taken following the Governor’s approval. On August 31, the Karnataka Governor’s office told the High Court that after ‘discussion’ it had permitted to prosecute Karnataka Chief Minister K. Siddaramaiah in the Mysore Urban Development Authority scam.  (Maxim News)
