Bihar Election 2025: One-Sided Love Not Going to Happen…’: Owaisi Slams INDI Bloc
Hyderabad, July 14 (Maxim News): AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday ruled out any alliance with the INDI bloc ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections and reiterated support for forming a third front in the state.
Speaking at a public event, Owaisi said there was no question of joining the Congress-led opposition alliance and accused rival parties of targeting his party to suppress marginalised voices.
“One-sided love is not going to happen… The people of Bihar should understand that the accusations made against us were based on lies. They don’t want a leader of the poor and oppressed to emerge,” Owaisi alleged that his political opponents want the people of Bihar to remain subservient to them. “They want the people of Bihar to be their slaves… We will fight our elections well,” he said.
Supporting the idea of a political alternative to both the BJP-led NDA and the INDI bloc, the Hyderabad MP said AIMIM was in favour of building a third front in Bihar.
“Our Bihar unit president Akhtarul Iman has said we should try to form a third front. This was an effort from our side. Everything is before the people of Bihar now,” Owaisi added.
Earlier this month, AIMIM’s lone MLA in Bihar, Akhtarul Iman, had written a letter to RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav seeking inclusion in the Mahagathbandhan, which currently includes the RJD, Congress and Left parties, In the letter dated July 2, Iman said that AIMIM’s inclusion in the grand alliance would help avoid a split in secular votes and strengthen the alliance’s chances of forming the next government in Bihar. He also claimed that similar attempts were made during the previous assembly polls, and AIMIM chief Owaisi had spoken to leaders from the Congress and the Left parties.
In the 2020 elections, AIMIM won five seats in Bihar’s Muslim-majority Seemanchal region in alliance with the BSP and RLSP. However, all but one MLA later joined the RJD in 2022.
The Mahagathbandhan had fallen short of a majority in that election by around a dozen seats. (Maxim News)
