Bird Flu In Abdullapurmet: 10,000 Chickens Killed

Abdullapurmet/Hyderabad, April 4 (Maxim News): A team of district veterinary and Animal Husbandry department officials killed 10,000 chickens infected with bird flu in a poultry farm in the Batasingaram village of Abdullapurmet mandal of Rangareddy district on Thursday.  

Later, they were put in bags and buried in a deep pit. There were about 36,000 chickens in the said farm, some of which have already died of bird flu. Of the remaining 17,500 chickens, the officials killed 10,000 on Thursday. The rest will be killed and buried on Friday, they said. Chicken samples will be collected from farms near this farm.

Speaking on this occasion, District Animal Husbandry Department Officer Dr. Babuberi said the managers of the nearby poultry farm should take precautions and sanitize the area around the farm every day. They want to be informed immediately if the chickens die.  (Maxim News)
