BJP, BRS Is Responsible For BC Reservation Crisis: Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao
Hyderabad, Oct 10 (Maxim News) : CPI State Secretary Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao has held the BJP and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) responsible for the ongoing controversy over BC reservations.
He accused both parties of celebrating after the High Court stayed the implementation of the BC reservation bill, calling their behavior insensitive and politically motivated.
Addressing a press conference in Hyderabad, Kunamneni questioned their intent, saying, “Is this animosity toward the government or concern for the BCs?” He criticized their double standards, pointing out that while they had expressed support for the BC Bill in the Assembly, they failed to act when it mattered most.
“The CPI supported the BC Bill, and we were also named in the case. Why couldn’t they take a firm stand?” he asked.
Referring to legal precedents, Kunamneni explained that although the Supreme Court has capped reservations at 50 percent, Tamil Nadu was able to exceed that limit by placing its law under the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution.
He stated that the Modi government has the authority to amend the Constitution to address this issue but has chosen not to. “The entire responsibility lies with the BJP,” he said, accusing the party of misleading the public through “devious politics.”
Kunamneni further alleged that the BRS is backing the BJP on this issue. He called upon the Congress to take initiative by leading a multi-party delegation to Delhi.
“If necessary, a united protest should be organized at Jantar Mantar. Passing this bill would mark an important step forward for social justice across the country,” he asserted. (Maxim News)
