BJP Chief Rubbishes Revanth Remarks On BRS Alliance
- BJP chief rubbishes Revanth remarks, denies BRS alliance
- Telangana BJP counters Congress, targets defections and polls
Telangana BJP President N Ramchander Rao has strongly rejected Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s remarks that the BJP contested elections in alliance with the Bharat Rashtra Samithi. He described the statement as false and misleading. He said the claim ignored political realities and undermined the role of BJP workers and voters. According to Rao, the party has grown in Telangana on its own strength and public support.
Rao said the BJP’s electoral performance came through sustained grassroots work. He stressed that the party did not rely on any alliance with the BRS. He also said the BJP has emerged as a credible alternative to the ruling Congress in the state. He pointed to the party’s performance in recent local body elections. According to him, the BJP secured a large number of Sarpanch and Ward Member positions. Therefore, he said, the party’s rise cannot be linked to any hidden understanding.
Meanwhile, Rao turned his focus on the Congress and its relationship with the BRS. He said that if Congress and BRS are truly separate, then Congress should act against defected MLAs. He alleged that the Congress government protected BRS defectors. He claimed the government pressured the Speaker to reject disqualification petitions. According to him, this conduct was visible to the public and raised serious questions. He also questioned the role of defected MLAs during the Lok Sabha elections. He criticised the Chief Minister for defending them. He described this defence as political bankruptcy.
Later, Rao spoke about the issue of reservations. He alleged that the Congress government’s proposal to revisit 42 per cent BC reservations in the Assembly was part of a wider plan. He claimed the move aimed to dilute the reservation policy. He accused Revanth Reddy of misleading people on the issue. He said the Chief Minister believed people would accept false claims as truth. However, Rao said Telangana citizens were politically aware.
Rao also referred to past election results to counter the alliance claim. He recalled that in the last Parliament elections, Congress won eight seats. He said the BJP also won eight seats. He said this result contradicted the allegation that BJP and BRS contested together. He added that such remarks insulted the people of Telangana. He further pointed to the Legislative Council elections held after Congress came to power. He said Congress failed to win any seats. Meanwhile, the BJP won two seats, including one earlier held by Congress.
Rao concluded by saying the BJP is steadily expanding its base in Telangana. He said the party would continue to challenge both Congress and BRS. He asserted that the BJP would project itself as the true alternative for the state’s future.
