BJP, Congress in Quandary on TRS Declaring Candidates Much in Advance for Upcoming Assembly Elections

Hyderabad, Nov 17: The opposition parties BJP and Congress which are claiming to form government in the State of Telangana by defeating the ruling TRS in the coming Assembly elections is in quandary as the TRS Supremo and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has declared its candidates “stating that all the sitting MLAs will get the ticket” much in advance.

It may be recalled that TRS (now BRS) has already switched to battle mode much ahead of the Assembly elections to be held next year, with a 365 day action plan drawn out and the declaration of war against BJP. . Apart from countering the Opposition effectively, the TRS leadership is keenin making use of this time frame to ensure that all welfare and development programmes initiated by the State government reach eligible beneficiaries.

According to the sources, the Chief Minister has prepared a multi pronged strategy for party functionaries, each of them tasked with different activities for the next 365 days. The legislators have been asked to ensure the implementation of the electoral promises in their respective constituencies, they were also assigned to reach out to every voter, especially families benefiting from the State government’s schemes, they have been asked to remain in their constituencies.

While the TRS may dismiss BJP’s performance in the recently concluded Munugode by elections as something that was expected and also predicted, the result is sure to make the ruling TRS (BRS) take the BJP more seriously KCR may dismiss the BJP in the state and hope for their downfall in the 2024 general elections, BJP state president Bandi Sanjay said he is confident of winning 70 seats in the 119 member Telangana Assembly. The party which had won four Lok Sabha seats in the 2019 elections has been upbeat ever since it won in two by-elections in Huzurabad and Dubbaka. The party also put up an impressive show in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections. The BJP bagged 48 seats in the 150 member Corporation, a big improvement from its earlier tally of just four. BJP has been strategically projecting itself as the only worthy alternative to the TRS in the state.

In the 2018 elections, TRS party retained power by winning 88 seats out of the 119 seats. The Congress stood second with 19 seats while the AIMIM bagged seven seats. BJP managed to win just one seat, Goshamahal constituency where T.Raja singh was re-elected. The party’s victory in the two bye-elections later helped take its tally to three.
