BJP Demands Month Long Telangana Assembly Winter Session

He said the government must clearly announce the duration of the Telangana Assembly winter session starting tomorrow.

Speaking to the media at the BJP state office in Nampally, Maheshwar Reddy alleged that the Congress government was violating Assembly procedures. He said Assembly rules require sittings for up to 100 days annually. However, he claimed that the present government was following the same approach as the previous BRS regime by curtailing sessions.

He recalled that during the previous winter season, the Assembly was held for only one day. Therefore, he demanded clarity on how many days the Telangana Assembly winter session would be conducted this time. He questioned whether the government had the courage to allow discussions on people’s issues.

Maheshwar Reddy said farmers and agricultural labourers continued to face serious hardships across Telangana. He alleged that the government promised Rs 15,000 assistance to farm labourers but later reduced it to Rs 12,000. Even that amount, he claimed, was not fully disbursed.

He further stated that farm loan waivers remained incomplete. Additionally, he accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of failing to give legal backing to the six guarantees promised before elections. He alleged that the government made numerous promises but abandoned them after coming to power.

He listed several assurances that remained unimplemented. These included job recruitment, Rs 2,500 monthly assistance for women, and gold under the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme. Moreover, he alleged that the government was mired in corruption and lacked the confidence to face Assembly debates.

Maheshwar Reddy questioned why the Chief Minister was avoiding discussions now despite earlier claims that the Assembly could debate any issue for any number of days. He said he had given a PowerPoint presentation on the Hill policy and challenged the government to debate it.

He also alleged neglect of irrigation projects, SC, ST, and BC welfare commitments, and reservation assurances. He criticised the Bhubharati land policy, alleging misuse of existing lands. Furthermore, he claimed that public healthcare had collapsed across the state.

The BJP leader questioned the status of Praja Darbar and demanded a white paper on grievance redressal. He warned that the state’s financial condition was deteriorating rapidly. He also questioned reports of Rs 100 crore spending on football events.
