BJP MLAs Suspended for Two days from Assembly
Hyderabad: The Telangana BJP leaders staged a protest in the assembly against the Muslim reservation bill at the speaker’s podium here on Friday.
As soon as the House assembled this morning, the BJP members including the party’s Floor leader G. Kishan Reddy and State Party President Laxman, who came to the House sporting black “kanduvas” as a protest against the state government’s move to introduce a Bill for providing reservations for the muslim minorities. The BJP members were against providing caste-based reservations for minorities.
Irrigation Minister Tanneru Harish Rao introduced a motion to suspended five BJP MLAs including Kishan Reddy and Lakshman. Telangana Assembly Speaker Madhusudhana Chary moved the motion and suspended the BJP members for this week.
The Opposition Party Congress walked out of the assembly objecting the suspension of the BJP MLAs. Jana Reddy said that the TRS government is trying to suppress anyone who are protesting against government.
He further said that, had there been a dharna chowk, this situation could be handled well. He demanded an explanation from the government regarding suspension of the leaders.
Protesting against the Muslim reservation bill, the BJP leaders in the state called for “Chalo Assembly”. Police forces were deployed in the state to curb the leaders from performing demonstrations.
BJP leaders accused that the TRS is pursuing vote-bank politics and the proposed reservation bill as unconstitutional. BJP leader Kishan Reddy and Congress leader Jana Reddy both share the view that the Telangana government is trying to suppress the opposition parties’ voices in legislative assembly.
