Police said the accused were adding harmful acetic acid to the ginger garlic paste. Authorities explained that the mixture was stored in plastic tubs for long periods. Later, the paste was packed in quantities ranging from 175 grams to 5 kg. The accused then used fake brand labels before selling the product.

Officials stated that the adulterated ginger paste was being supplied to general and grocery stores across the city. Therefore, the racket posed a serious risk to consumers who might unknowingly buy the product.
