Hyderabad, Jan 16 (Maxim News): BMC elections delivered a key development as the All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen won three seats in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation polls.
According to counting trends released so far. The results marked a notable expansion of the party’s presence in Mumbai’s civic politics while vote counting continued across the city.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation election results showed AIMIM securing victories in multiple wards of eastern Mumbai.
As counting progressed, party candidates emerged victorious in Govandi Ward 134 and Govandi Ward 136.
In addition, AIMIM also won a seat from the Cheetah Camp area.
These results strengthened the party’s footprint in the city’s municipal body during an election watched closely by all major political players.
According to preliminary trends, the AIMIM wins reflected a steady rise in support in select urban pockets. Party sources stated that voters responded to local civic concerns and demands for representation.
However, officials cautioned that a clearer picture would emerge only after the final results are officially declared.
Meanwhile, counting remained underway in several other wards, and margins continued to change as rounds progressed.
The ongoing BMC elections featured intense competition among several major parties.
The Bharatiya Janata Party remained a key contender. At the same time, both Shiv Sena factions led by Uddhav Thackeray and Eknath Shinde were closely watched.
The Indian National Congress, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, and different factions of the Nationalist Congress Party were also in the fray. Therefore, the final balance of power is yet to be confirmed.
Election authorities said counting was taking place under tight security arrangements. Officials also urged the public to avoid unofficial claims and rumours circulating on social media platforms. They stressed that only certified updates from the election office should be treated as final.
Meanwhile, political observers noted that even limited gains can influence civic dynamics in a large municipal body like the BMC.
As counting continues, attention remains focused on how the final composition of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation will shape Mumbai’s civic administration.
Later, the results may also play a role in post poll discussions among parties seeking influence within the country’s richest municipal corporation. (Maxim News)
