BRS 2026 Calendar Highlights Minority Welfare Record
- BRS 2026 calendar unveiled at Telangana Bhavan
- Congress accused of failing on minority welfare promises
Hyderabad: BRS Working President K. Tarakarama Rao on Thursday unveiled the BRS 2026 calendar at Telangana Bhavan, with a sharp focus on minority welfare initiatives undertaken during the party’s decade-long rule in Telangana. The calendar, compiled by senior BRS leader Shaik Abdullah Sohail, combines the Gregorian and Hijri calendars and carries quotes from BRS chief and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao.
The BRS 2026 calendar presents itself as a retrospective document of governance, highlighting welfare schemes, infrastructure projects, and policy decisions aimed at the Muslim community. According to party leaders present at the launch, the calendar seeks to record what they described as inclusive development and sustained attention to minority empowerment during the BRS regime.
The calendar features key welfare schemes such as Shaadi Mubarak and the distribution of KCR Kits. It also showcases the establishment of minority residential schools under the Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society and the annual hosting of Iftar parties. In addition, it highlights infrastructure initiatives including the construction of mosques in the new Secretariat, the restoration of Anees-ul-Ghurba, and the development of institutions such as Urdu Maskan and the Jamia Nizamia auditorium.
Political representation achieved during BRS rule also finds mention in the BRS 2026 calendar. These include the appointment of Mahmood Ali as Telangana’s first Muslim Deputy Chief Minister and later as Home Minister. The calendar also notes the nomination of Muslim Members of the Legislative Council and the appointment of heads of minority-focused corporations.

Speaking to reporters after the launch, Shaik Abdullah Sohail praised the BRS government for giving minorities what he described as visibility and voice in public life. He said the party’s approach focused on dignity, education, and equal opportunity rather than symbolic gestures. However, he strongly criticised the present Congress government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
“Not a single promise from the Congress Minorities Declaration has been implemented. Over two years, less than half of the allocated minority welfare budget has been spent. The promise of Minority Sub-Plan remained unfulfilled, and the Rs 1,000 crore subsidised loan scheme for youth remains on paper,” Sohail said.
The launch event was attended by MLC Dr Dasoju Sravan and other senior BRS functionaries, who reiterated that the BRS 2026 calendar reflects what they called a consistent record of minority welfare governance.
