Secunderabad Existence Under Threat, Alleges Talasani

  • Secunderabad history and corporation demand highlighted

Hyderabad: Senior MLA and former minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Wednesday accused the Congress government of conspiring to damage the Secunderabad existence despite its long and distinct history. He said the government led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was trying to weaken the identity of Secunderabad. He also made it clear that the struggle would continue until a separate Secunderabad Corporation was formed.

Speaking to the media, Talasani said Secunderabad has a unique historical and cultural identity. He announced that a meeting with all sections of society would be held at Lee Palace on the 11th of this month. He also revealed plans for a massive rally. According to him, the rally will be taken out from Secunderabad Railway Station to the Gandhi Statue on MG Road on the 17th of this month. He said these programmes aim to protect the Secunderabad existence.

Talasani explained that Secunderabad represents Lashkar Bonalu, Rashtrapati Nilayam, Defence establishments, Secunderabad Railway Station, Arts College, and Mahbub College. He said the twin cities have a clear historical divide, with Tank Bund separating Hyderabad on one side and Secunderabad on the other. Meanwhile, he noted that areas like Malkajgiri, Cyberabad, and Shamshabad expanded gradually from villages. However, he alleged that dividing historic Secunderabad into Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Malkajgiri corporations was an attempt to erase its identity.

He recalled that Secunderabad was formed in 1809 following an agreement when Defence establishments came to the region. He said this history cannot be ignored. He also stated that the North Zone of Secunderabad has always remained peaceful. According to him, the area reflects equal respect for all religions. He warned that treating governance like a monarchy was wrong. He said people would not accept decisions taken without public consent.

Talasani further alleged that authorities confused administrative divisions by drawing maps from offices without consulting local people. He said this issue was not linked to any single political party. Instead, he described it as a matter of self respect for the people of Secunderabad. Therefore, he urged residents to unite and oppose any move that weakens the Secunderabad existence.

He reiterated that Nakjahguru was an area that slowly expanded from a village. He said such expansion should not justify altering historic identities. Later, he stressed that democratic governance requires listening to people. He maintained that the fight to protect Secunderabad’s history and existence would continue.
