Hyderabad, Sept. 22: A BRS delegation sought clarification from Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C Sudharshan Reddy on the voter registration schedule for two Graduate MLC constituencies.
MLCs L Ramana and Dasoju Sravan, former MLC Karne Prabhakar and former TGPSC member Sumithranand met the CEO on Tuesday.
The delegation submitted a representation concerning the preparation of electoral rolls for the Mahabubnagar Rangareddy Hyderabad and Warangal Khammam Nalgonda Graduates’ Constituencies.
The Election Commission has ordered fresh electoral rolls for both constituencies ahead of the MLC elections due in March 2027. November 1, 2026, is the qualifying date.
BRS Questions Graduate MLC Voter Registration Schedule
The BRS pointed to the deadline of November 6 for submitting applications in Form 18.
Under the announced schedule, draft electoral rolls will be printed by November 20 and published on November 25. Claims and objections can then be filed until December 10. The final electoral rolls are scheduled for publication on December 30.
The party also raised concerns about the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
According to the BRS, the timing of the SIR final roll and the Graduate MLC enrolment process could create difficulties for applicants providing electoral roll details in Form 18.
The delegation sought clarification on how applicants should provide EPIC numbers or other electoral roll particulars if the relevant SIR roll is published after the Form 18 submission deadline.
The BRS urged the CEO to clarify the procedure and modify the schedule if necessary.
The party said the changes should ensure that all eligible graduates get a practical opportunity to register as voters.
The CEO has earlier clarified that the Graduate MLC rolls are being prepared afresh. Even voters whose names appear in the existing Graduate MLC rolls must submit a fresh Form 18 application with the required documents.
Applications can be submitted online through the Telangana CEO website or through designated election officials. They can also be sent by post.
