Hyderabad, Feb. 1 (Maxim News): The Union Budget 2026 has delivered major relief to cancer patients by cutting taxes on essential medicines used in treatment.
During her budget speech, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced tax reductions on 17 cancer related drugs. As a result, treatment costs are expected to fall significantly for patients across the country.
Budget 2026 Tax Relief for Cancer Treatment and Healthcare
According to the announcement, the government has reduced taxes on medicines commonly used to manage cancer symptoms. These drugs help patients deal with fatigue, breathing difficulties, and severe discomfort during treatment.
At the same time, the Centre has exempted Compressed Natural Gas produced through biogas from central excise duty. In addition, the budget has lowered taxes on micro air vehicles and civil aviation aircraft parts.
Because of these steps, the healthcare and clean energy sectors are likely to benefit together. Moreover, lower drug prices will ease the financial burden on families facing long term cancer treatment.
Overall, the government aims to improve access to affordable healthcare while supporting sustainable industries. The tax relief measures form a key part of the broader Budget 2026 reform agenda. (Maxim News)
