Hyderabad: A change of location apparently did not help Shaik Abdul Jaffar, alias Ahmed alias Saifuddin, with the law finally catching up with him on Wednesday.
Having been involved in not one or two but 66 burglaries over 13 years in Telangana, Jaffar had recently shifted his area of operation to the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, where he carried out burglaries in Guntur and Kurnool.
However, the Hyderabad Police Commissioner’s Task Force (East Zone), who were looking for him since he was wanted in 12 cases in the Hyderabad Police limits, tracked him down and nabbed him, apart from cracking two burglaries and one bike theft case he was allegedly involved in after shifting base. Diamond ornaments, 23 tolas of gold, all together worth Rs.12 lakh and a two-wheeler were recovered from his possession, police said.
Jaffar, whose last three burglaries were in the limits of the Golconda police, Kurnool police and the Thadepalli police in AP, was involved in 66 burglaries in Telangana from 2006 to 2019. These included 14 in Rachakonda limits, 38 in Cyberabad, two in Warangal and 12 in Hyderabad.
He was handed over to the Golconda police for further action.
