By June 2, State Formation Day, Many TRS Legislators, Leaders To Get Posts
Hyderabad, May 5 (Maxim News): By June 2, the State Formation Day, quite a number of TRS Legislators and senior leaders might get power, some of them posts like Minister, Chief Whips, Whips, Chairperson of Legislative Council, and some others as chairpersons of State-owned Corporations, Boards and Commissions. The State is sure to witness a full-fledged Cabinet also by end of this month, according to informed sources.
According to the prescribed norms, the State can have a total of 17 Ministers, including the Chief Minister. As of now, there are only 11 Ministers including the Chief Minister, and hence there is scope for induction of six more Ministers. Sources say that the chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has nearly completed the exercise relating to selection of legislators to be made Ministers, on the basis of region, community, sex, etc. Still, he wants to wait till the Lok Sabha election results are out on May 23. Based on the results, he might affect one or two changes, if necessary, before going in for Cabinet expansion.
A final picture on the number of Congress MLAs joining the TRS-band wagon (merger of CLP in to TRS) will also emerge by May 23, the Chief Minister expects. This factor also will be taken into consideration before finalizing the Ministers to be included. Some of the senior leaders of the Congress are also expected to get some posts, including one or two Ministerial positions.
At present, there is no representation to women and STs in the Council of Ministers. The Chief Minister had already indicated earlier that not one, but two women will get berths in the Ministry. In this context, the names of Satyavathi Rathod, MLC and former Minister Sabita Indra Reddy, who had resigned from the Congress party and joined the ruling TRS party, are mentioned as probable incumbents. If Satyavathis Rathod is made a Minister, it also means representation to STs.
It is learnt that Neti Vidyasagar Rao, who is now acting ass Chairman of the upper House, will get the post permanently. The posts of Chief Whips in both the Houses, whips, chairpersons of Corporations, Boards and Commissioners are also likely to be filled-in by June 2, according to sources. (Maxim News)
