Cabinet Decides Preventive Steps Against Coronavirus, To Launch Massive Campaign

Hyderabad, March.3 (Maxim News): State government reviewed preparedness and measures to check spread of Coronavirus (COVID 19) in wake of a man from State testing positive for virus. After finding Coronavirus cases each one in Telangana and in Delhi, the State government has taken a decision to prevent its spread.

A Cabinet sub-committee today met at MCR HRD Institute and decided to conduct a massive publicity campaign across the State to check the dreaded Coronavirus Covid-19. Ministers KT Rama Rao, Etala Rajender, Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar and officials discussed the issue. A decision was taken to set up a 24-hour call centre. Asserting that the government was fully prepared to deal with the situation, the officials advised the public not to panic.

Speaking on the occasion, KTR said Corona virus will not cause death and those with symptoms should get checked up in the hospitals. He also directed the officials to conduct wide-ranging publicity in the State, including the city, towns and villages. Stating that there is no need of panic, he said the Gandhi, Chest, NIMS and other hospitals are well equipped with needed special wards and are geared to check the problem. On Monday, a 24-year-old software engineer from the city, who works in Bengaluru, was found to be the first confirmed case of Coronavirus from Telangana. The man, who came from Dubai with the virus, was admitted to Gandhi hospital and being treated. “Since there was possibility for the spread of the dreaded virus, we have to be extra cautious”, he warned.

He also he directed the officials to conduct awareness programs of in Telugu, Urdu, Hindi and English languages on the corona virus. “Since two cases were found to be positive of Corona virus, we have to collectively work against it”, he, said. He asked the officials to set up hoardings on the main roads, make use of all media channels and newspapers to create awareness among people. He reiterated that the government was ready to check and prevent its spread. The State government has also decided to act tough against those who spread fake news related to COVID-19 in Telangana on social media outlets platforms.

Allaying fears over the spread of dreaded corona virus, Health Minister Etala Rajendar clarified that the virus won’t spread through air. He also said clarified that the virus won’t spread to other passengers in the buses and trains. “But there was chance of it spreading to others when affected persons cough, sneeze and talk to others. It can be prevented by washing hands frequently and use handkerchief across mouth and nose”, he added.

The Health Minister also said Isolation centers were being set up in Military, Chest, Fever and Vikarabad Hospital and there were 600 to 800 beds in the medical colleges to isolate the patients. He also cautioned people not to give handshake to others even close friends and relatives for some time. He also informed that the State government has urged the Centre to supply masks to all the States.
