Kolkata/Hyderabad, June 30, 2026: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) faced a setback after the Calcutta High Court declined its request for an urgent hearing on a petition challenging the freezing of the party’s bank accounts.
The party had approached the court seeking immediate intervention, arguing that its functioning was being affected due to restrictions placed on its accounts.
During the proceedings, lawyers appearing for the TMC submitted that freezing of the bank accounts was impacting routine party operations and therefore required urgent consideration.
However, the High Court declined to hear the matter immediately.
Justice Amrita Sinha observed that the case did not warrant urgent listing and clarified that the petition would be taken up according to the court’s regular schedule.
According to submissions made by the party’s legal team, the restrictions on bank accounts were creating challenges in meeting day-to-day organisational requirements, including administrative expenses and operational activities.
The accounts were reportedly frozen in connection with actions taken by central investigating agencies.
The court’s refusal to grant urgent relief has led the party to await the regular hearing process.

Reports suggest the party may consider exploring further legal remedies depending on the outcome of subsequent proceedings.
