A shocking road accident in Telangana’s Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district claimed two lives on Sunday morning after a speeding Thar lost control and rammed into people standing by the roadside near Bibi Nagar pond. The accident led to chaos in the Cheruvukatta area, leaving locals terrified.
According to initial reports, the Thar was traveling at high speed on the highway when it hit a road divider near the Bibi Nagar embankment. The impact caused the driver to lose control, and the vehicle veered off the road, hitting a young couple who were standing next to their parked bike. The vehicle then ran over them, resulting in the man’s death on the spot. The woman was flung into a nearby pond and succumbed shortly after.
Eyewitnesses said the vehicle was traveling at nearly 150 kmph when it crashed. The collision left the front portion of the Thar heavily damaged. Three occupants of the vehicle sustained injuries and were immediately taken to the Bhuvanagiri Hospital for treatment. Police said that the deceased are believed to be a husband and wife from the local area.
Upon receiving information, Bibi Nagar police rushed to the scene and began rescue operations with the help of local residents. The bodies were later recovered from the site and sent for postmortem examination. Officials confirmed that a case has been registered and a detailed investigation is underway. Preliminary findings suggest that over-speeding and loss of control caused the accident, but further technical examination will determine if mechanical failure or driver negligence played a role.
The incident has once again sparked outrage over reckless driving on Telangana highways. Police have urged motorists to adhere to safe speed limits, especially in densely populated areas, to prevent such tragedies.
