Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) leader K Kavitha is currently in judicial custody. On Tuesday (April 9, 2024), the court extended K Kavita’s custody till April 23. He was produced in the court after the period of judicial custody ended.

On Monday itself (April 8), the court refused to grant interim bail to Kavita, saying that prima facie it seems that she had tried to influence the witnesses. ED has alleged that K Kavita is a member of the South Group involved in the Delhi Excise Policy case.

What has ED claimed?

ED has said that K Kavita is an important member of the South Group which is accused of paying a bribe of Rs 100 crore to Delhi’s ruling party Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to get a bigger share in the liquor license.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia are in jail in a money laundering case related to the Delhi Liquor Policy. The Central Investigation Agency has claimed that there has been alleged corruption in making and implementing the liquor policy. The ED termed AAP national convenor Kejriwal as the main conspirator in the case and said that many party leaders and ministers were also involved in this.

On the other hand, rejecting all these allegations, K Kavitha and AAP said that all this is being done in the spirit of political vendetta.
