Hyderabad: The Authority of Holding Sealed Particulars transfer of the Carrier Command Post Tracked vehicle took place on 27 February 2026 at Ordnance Factory Medak. The ceremony marked a key step in strengthening indigenous defence capability. Officials held the function in the presence of senior representatives from DRDO, DGQA, OFMK, BEL and the Indian Army.
AHSP Transfer of CCPT Vehicle at Ordnance Factory Medak
The Carrier Command Post Tracked vehicle is designed by the Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment under Defence Research and Development Organisation. It serves as a command vehicle for effective deployment of self propelled artillery guns. The CCPT is developed on the extended chassis of the BMP 2 as per Indian Army requirements. Its mobility matches that of SP guns on a tracked platform.
The AHSP of CCPT is designated to CQAICV Nodal DGQA. The transfer was held between CVRDE and CQAICV at OFMK. Production partners OFMK and Bharat Electronics Limited Bengaluru attended the ceremony. Representatives from the Indian Army DGArty were also present. Senior officials included Shri SS Prasad, CGM OFMK, Shri Rajesh Kumar J, Scientist H and Director CVRDE, Brigadier Sandeep Acharyya, Controller CQA ICV, Brigadier K Sri Ram Kumar, Controller CQA HV, Mrs. Sangeeta Srivastava, GM BEL Bengaluru, Shri M Saravanan, Officiating ADGQA CV, Colonel Arijit Saha, CME MAG No 7, and Major Saim Faraz, Representative DG Artillery Directorate.
CCPT to Support K9 VAJRA SP Guns Deployment
This function facilitates delivery of 41 production CCPT vehicles from OFMK to services by March 2026. These vehicles will co functional with K9 Vajra SP guns in forward areas. Therefore, the induction will strengthen artillery command operations.
CCPT consists of the Integrated Command Control and Communication System for Artillery Tracked known as i3CAT. It enables a command post solution on a tracked vehicle. It is described as a first of its kind highly mobile command post for self propelled artillery regiments. It coordinates tactical and technical fire control functions. OFMK and BEL jointly manufacture the vehicle. The platform provides seating for seven crew members apart from the driver and gunner. The i3CAT integrated CCPT can deploy at regimental level as Regimental Command Post and at battery level as Battery Command Post.
OFMK has also manufactured BMP variants in association with CVRDE DRDO. These include Carrier Mortar Tracked, Armoured Ambulance Tracked, Carrier Command Post Tracked and Infantry Combat Vehicle Command. Three products have been inducted into service for desert sector deployment, while the fourth is under trial evaluation and improvements development.
