- Census in AP Telangana to include self enumeration and surveys
- Census Registrar General outlines phases and data collection
Hyderabad, March 30: The Census in AP Telangana will be conducted in two phases, according to Census Registrar General Mrityunjaya. He announced detailed timelines and procedures for both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, including self enumeration and household surveys.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Mrityunjaya said that Andhra Pradesh will begin its household survey from May 1 to May 30. Meanwhile, self enumeration will be allowed earlier, from April 16 to April 30. Similarly, in Telangana, the household survey will take place from May 11 to June 9. Self enumeration in the state will be open from April 26 to May 10.
He clarified that all details collected during the Census in AP Telangana will remain confidential. He also explained how the process will be carried out in both phases. He said, “In the self-enumeration, people will have the opportunity to register their own house survey details on the census website. In the house survey, 34 questions will have to be answered such as the condition of the house, house facilities, belongings, and whether the house belongs to SCs and STs. In the first phase, there will be a house count. We will collect details of the condition, facilities, assets, etc. of each house. House listing will be done for 30 days between April and September. There will be an opportunity for self-enumeration for 15 days, a month before the house listing.”
He further added, “We will collect information related to social, cultural and economic conditions as well as migration and fertility status. In the second phase, we will collect caste census details. There will be an opportunity to register the details yourself through the web portal https://se.census.gov.in . The census is being conducted at a cost of Rs 11,718 crore. The census will be conducted through a mobile app in 16 languages. The enumerators will collect the census data through their own mobiles.”
Meanwhile, officials said the two-phase Census in AP Telangana will focus on both housing conditions and broader socio-economic data. Therefore, the process will combine digital tools with field surveys. Also, the use of mobile apps and self enumeration aims to improve participation and data accuracy.
The announcement outlines a structured approach to the Census in AP Telangana. However, authorities will monitor the process closely as it progresses across both states.
