The action comes after reports that e rickshaw drivers in Delhi and other areas were being harassed through the remote shutdown feature.

Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) Secretary S. Krishnan said the two applications, BAT BMS and Epoch Li ion, have been removed from both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.

According to the Ministry, the apps were linked to battery management systems and were allegedly misused to remotely disable e rickshaws without the drivers’ knowledge.

The government has not announced any further action, but the removal of the two applications is aimed at preventing their misuse and enhancing the safety of e rickshaw operations.
