Centre To Increase Green Cover In Urban Areas: Indrakaran

Hyderabad, Aug.17 (Maxim News): Forest minister A Indrakaran Reddy today informed to the Centre on measures to increase green cover and protection of plants in urban areas, villages and districts through various programs in Telangana state.

He participated in a video conference addressed by union forest and environment minister Prakash Javadekar from Delhi.

Indrakaran Reddy said that several. Programs of Haritha haram, school nursery, 20 point program, urban forestry, afforestation are bring taken up for green cover expansion.

The minister explained about the programs as part of increasing the green cover to 33 percent from 26 percent existing. While the minister spoke to Javadekar from Nirmal collector office, forest principal secretary coordinated from Aranya Bhavan in Hyderabad.

The centre will provide all cooperation for green cover expansion, Javadekar said. He asked the states to focus on the same to protect environment. (Maxim News)
