Centre to transform Medaram into tribal tourism circuit: Kishan

Hyderabad, Feb.18 (Maxim News): Union Minister for Tourism and Culture G. Kishan Reddy today said they would develop the famous Medaram Sammakka and Sarakka temple and its neighbouring areas into a tribal tourism circuit. He said Medaram jatara was a symbol of the culture and tradition of the tribals of the State.

The Union Minister made these remarks while speaking to media persons after performing prayers at the Sammakka and Sarakka temple in Medaram. He said they had taken up the works of the construction of a tribal university at Mulugu at a cost of ₹45 crore and the works would be completed at the earliest.

Kishan Reddy was accompanied by Union Tribal Welfare Minister Rekha Singh. She also performed prayers at the temple along with Kishan Reddy. Speaking on the occasion, she said that she was fortunate enough that she got the opportunity to perform the prayers at the temple. She said that they would speed up the construction works of the tribal university. She said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was working hard for the development of the tribals of the country and added that the PM had kept a special focus on the development of the tribals . She said that they had developed 34000 villages of the country under Pradhanmantri Jan Jyothi Adhi Vikas Yojana .

Meanwhile, hundreds and thousands of devotees thronged the historic temple on Friday. The number of the devotees would go up on the last day of the jatara tomorrow. (Maxim News)
