Centre’s decision to slash fuel prices is too little: Harish Rao

Hyderabad, May 22 (Maxim News): Minister for Health T Harish Rao on Sunday slammed the Central government’s decision to reduce prices of petrol and diesel by around Rs 10 per litre and Rs. 8 per litre respectively, saying that it is too little to reduce the prices.

Speaking to the media here, Harish Rao said that the Centre has increased the fuel prices by 75 percent but has been slashed by only 25 percent.

Harish Rao demanded that the BJP government show courage and roll back excise on petrol and diesel to the level it was in 2014.

He found fault with the State unit BJP leaders for hailing the decision of reducing the fuel prices by the Modi government, terming it as the too little.

“If the Modi government really wants to give relief to the common man, then the excise duty should be reduced to the level of 2014. Then, the prices of diesel and petrol will be reduced drastically and the common man will get relief from inflation,” Harish Rao pointed out.

Responding to a question on the possibility of emerging new corona variant of Covid-19 in Telangana, the Health Minister said there is no need to press panic button over the new variant in the State and only one case has been registered so far related to the new variant but all of its contacts are reported negative.
