Chanchalguda Jail Prisoner Escapes | Hyderabad, April 20 (Maxim News): A remand prisoner escaped from police custody in Hyderabad while being shifted from Chanchalguda Jail to Bowenpally Police Station on a PT warrant, officials said on Monday.
Police said the accused was among three persons being transported for investigation in a theft related case. However, during the return trip after inquiry, one prisoner managed to flee.
The accused reportedly escaped while being taken in a private vehicle. Officials said he jumped from the moving vehicle near Chanchalguda Jail and ran away.

Police identified the escaped accused as Naresh. The remaining two accused continued to remain in police custody.

According to sources, police had remanded all three accused on April 12 in connection with a theft case. They were later brought on a PT warrant for further investigation at Bowenpally Police Station.
Soon after the escape, police alerted senior officers and launched an intensive search operation. Teams were deployed in nearby areas to trace Naresh.
Moreover, checkpoints were strengthened and surveillance cameras near the jail route are being examined. Police are also verifying how the accused escaped during transit. The incident has raised fresh concerns over prisoner handling and escort security in Hyderabad. Questions are being asked over the use of a private vehicle for shifting remand prisoners.
