Hyderabad, May 11: Police arrested 10 accused in the sensational murder case of a youth named Yavan in Secunderabad’s Chilakalaguda on Sunday. Officers also seized deadly weapons allegedly used in the crime.
The murder took place on May 7 under the limits of Chilakalaguda Police Station. According to police, a group of assailants attacked Yavan with machetes and killed him in broad daylight. Preliminary investigation revealed that old rivalry was the main reason behind the attack.
The brutal incident created panic among local residents. Soon after the murder, police registered a case and formed special teams to trace the accused. Investigators examined CCTV footage, technical evidence and call data records to identify the suspects.

Police said the accused tried to escape after the murder. However, the special teams tracked their movements and arrested 10 persons involved in the case. Officers also recovered the weapons allegedly used during the attack.
Meanwhile, police are continuing the investigation to find out the exact sequence of events and the motive behind the murder. Officials are also verifying whether more persons were involved in planning or executing the attack.
The accused will be produced before the court after completion of formal procedures. Police officials said detailed information about the accused and the background of the murder will be disclosed soon.
The incident has once again raised concerns over rising violent crimes in parts of Hyderabad. Residents of the area demanded strict action against those involved in the killing.
