Hyderabad: China India friendship has come into focus after remarks by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during a press conference in Beijing. Speaking on the sidelines of the 14th session of the National People’s Congress, Wang Yi said China wants friendship with India and called for stronger cooperation between the two countries.

Wang Yi said India and China should view each other as partners who can help one another, not as adversaries. His comments came amid rising geopolitical tensions around the world, especially in West Asia. However, he stressed that both countries must build mutual trust and work together for development.

He also noted that India and China are important parts of the Global South. According to him, the two countries share deep cultural ties and wide common interests. Therefore, he said cooperation between the two nations can help Asia move forward on the path of development. He also stated that division and conflict stand in the way of Asian revival. Meanwhile, he described the normalization of relations between the two countries as a positive development.

Wang Yi also recalled the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Tianjin in August last year. He said the meeting took place after the Kazan Summit and played a key role in improving ties. According to him, the consensus reached by the two leaders is now being implemented at the field level. As a result, bilateral trade between the two countries has reached a peak.

Meanwhile, Wang Yi stressed that India and China should work together within the BRICS alliance. He said BRICS provides a platform where both countries share common goals. India is chairing BRICS this year, while China will take over the chair next year. Therefore, he believes coordination between the two nations can positively influence the global economy.
