Clean and Green Drive Boosts Swachh Bharat Efforts At OU

  • Osmania University conducts Clean and Green programme under Swachh Bharat
  • Faculty, students and scholars join Clean and Green initiative at Chemistry Department

Hyderabad: Osmania University organised a Clean and Green Drive on 22 November 2025 as part of the national Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The Department of Chemistry at the University College of Science led the programme. The aim was to promote hygiene, sanitation and environmental awareness among students, research scholars and staff. The event brought the academic community together for a day dedicated to improving the campus environment.

The drive was inaugurated by Prof. M. Vijjulatha. She is the Head of the Department of Chemistry and Principal of the University College of Science. She was joined by Prof. B. Manohar, President of OUTA, and Prof. J. Ramchander, Chairperson of the Board of Studies. Faculty members, non teaching staff, students and research scholars took part in the activity. The organisers said the participants showed strong interest and took part with enthusiasm.

Meanwhile, the participants cleaned different parts of the college premises. They focused on waste collection and proper disposal to ensure a cleaner campus. They also cleaned the Seminar Library of the Department. Later, they arranged the books neatly to create a better study environment for students and researchers. The department said the activity helped improve both cleanliness and the academic atmosphere.

The initiative received an excellent response from all sections of the college. The Department of Chemistry appreciated the active involvement of everyone who joined the drive. It also reaffirmed its commitment to continuing such environmental programmes. The organisers said they would keep working to maintain a clean, green and hygienic campus. They added that the Clean and Green Drive supports the larger goals of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by creating awareness and encouraging responsible behaviour.
