CM Chandrababu seeks LG Chem partnership for AI, data centres
Vijayawada/Hyderabad, Nov 15 (Maxim News): Andhra Pradesh is pushing ahead in data centres, AI, and quantum computing, with Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu inviting global partners to join the state’s technology push. He proposed setting up an AI university on the lines of Abu Dhabi and sought industry participation to build the ecosystem.
He specifically requested collaboration from LG Chem’s Chief Sustainability Strategy Officer Yoonjoko, asking the company to partner with the state in emerging technology initiatives.
During interactions on Day 2 of the CII Partnership Summit, the Chief Minister met representatives from leading firms to explore investments across advanced manufacturing, clean energy, and tourism.
In his meeting with LG Chem, he suggested establishing a naphtha cracker complex and a polymers manufacturing unit at either Kakinada or Moolapeta.
He assured full support for the company’s proposed Cathode Active Material (CAM) manufacturing unit and encouraged the setting up of plastic recycling units under Andhra Pradesh’s circular economy policy.
Naidu framed the AI university as a cornerstone for the state’s tech ambitions, linking it to talent development for data centres and quantum computing.
He said Andhra Pradesh is taking bold steps in technology and invited LG Chem to be a stakeholder in the university initiative.
The pitch aligns industry-led skilling with future manufacturing in batteries, chemicals, and materials, aiming to anchor high-value supply chains in the state.
The Chief Minister also held a series of sector-focused meetings with global and domestic leaders.
He met Atmosphere Core South Asia MD Soubhagya Mohapatra and Group MD Salil Panigrahi to discuss modern tourism development and the expansion of a premium luxury hotel portfolio.
He reviewed the progress of the company’s ongoing projects in Tirupati, Visakhapatnam, and Amaravati, seeking faster execution.
In a separate meeting with IFFCO Chairman Dilip Nanubhai Sanghani, Naidu discussed green ammonia and hydrogen-based fertilizer plants, farmer-oriented technology transfer, and opportunities to set up bio-fertilizer and bio-stimulant units.
He later met representatives of Cordelia Cruises and urged President and CEO Jurgen Bailam to collaborate in elevating Andhra Pradesh’s coastal tourism to international standards.
The government’s approach combines advanced industrial proposals—such as petrochemicals and battery materials—with sustainability goals like recycling and green fertilizers.
By linking academic infrastructure, especially an AI university, with manufacturing and clean-tech expansion, the state aims to create an integrated, future-ready economy.
The outreach signals a coordinated plan to attract anchor investors, deepen value chains, and scale high-end tourism and maritime experiences along the Andhra coast. (Maxim News)
