CM Decides To Name Toopakula Gudem Barrage After Sammakka Barrage
Hyderabad, Feb.12 (Maxim News): Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao decided to name Toopakula Gudem Barrage, being constructed across the river Godavari, as Sammakka Barrage in the name of the great Adivasi warrior and Goddess of forest Sammakka. In this regard, the Chief Minister instructed the Engineer-in-Chief Muralidhar Rao to issue a GO naming the Toopakula Gudem Barrage as Sammakka Barrage.
The Chief Minister said development in Telangana State was happening as planned with the blessings of three crore goddesses. The Chief Minister has remembered that with the completion of irrigation projects, certain barren lands were getting Kaleswaram waters and many barrages and reservoirs have been named after different goddesses.
On Thursday, the Chief Minister will be visiting the Kaleswaram project. In this connection, the CM conducted a review meeting with the officials concerned at Pragati Bhavan on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said desired water was being filled in the Kaleswram projects. Barrages have become full. From the forthcoming rainy season, water inflow will increase. From Pranahita to Lakshmi Barrage, flood waters need to be lifted from time to time and divert to respective canals. The Irrigation department need to be alert from now onwards by making required arrangements, the CM stated. As part of achieving the task, works need to be divided among the concerned departments, the CM suggested.
Ministers Gangula Kamalakar, Puvvada Ajay Kumar, Farmers Coordination committee Chairman MLC Palla Rajeswar Reddy, Chief Advisor to government Rajiv Sarma, Secretary to CM Ms.Smita Sabarwal, OSD to CM Sridhar Rao Deshpande, Irrigation Engineer in Chief Muralidhar Rao and other were present in the review meeting.
