CM Revanth Reddy Attends Swearing-In Ceremony Of CJI Justice Suraya Kant
Delhi/Hyderabad, Nov 24 (Maxim news): Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy attended the swearing-in ceremony of Chief justice of India Justice Suryakant. He left Hyderabad for Delhi on Monday (November 24) morning and participated in the CJI’s swearing-in ceremony. The swearing-in ceremony of CJI Justice Suryakant was held with great pomp and show. Justice Suryakant later took charge as the 53rd Chief Justice of India. The oath-taking ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday (November 24) was attended by former CJI BR Gavai. Prime Minister Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, several Union Ministers, CMs of several states, Senior Supreme Court Judges, lawyers and others.
It is known that Justice BR Gavai retired as CJI on sunday evening (november 23) Justice Suryakant was appointed as CJI in Gavai’s place on october 30, 2025. He will continue to his post for 15 months. He will retire on February 9, 2027.
Justice Suryakant was born on February 10, 1962, in a middle-class family in Hisar district of Haryana. He started practicing as a lawyer in Hisar in 1984 and gradually rose to the rank of CJI. During his career as a Supreme Court Judge, he gave historic judgments. Justice Suryakant was a member of the Constitution bench that gave the verdict on the abrogation of Article 370. (Maxim News)
