CM Revanth Reddy directs officials on Kaleshwaram repairs

Hyderabad, Oct. 28 (Maxim News): Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has directed irrigation officials to ensure that the agencies responsible for the construction of the Sundilla, Annaram, and Medigadda barrages are held accountable for all repair costs.

During a high-level review of the Irrigation Department, the Chief Minister instructed officials to prepare detailed plans to carry out the necessary repairs without burdening the state exchequer.

The meeting, which was attended by Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, CM’s Principal Secretary Seshadri, Secretary Manickraj, and other senior officials, also focused on the future of irrigation projects in the state.

The Chief Minister reviewed a recent letter sent by Union Minister C.R. Patil discussed the points raised in it with the officials. He instructed them to analyze the projects mentioned in the letter on a project-by-project basis and prepare comprehensive reports.

He also directed them to create a status report on all dams in the state. Based on these detailed reports, a follow-up review meeting will be held in the second week of November to decide on the future course of action.

A significant part of the discussion was dedicated to the Tummidi Hatti project. The Chief Minister asked officials to prepare plans to lift 80 TMC of water from Tummidi Hatti to Sundilla. He also emphasized the need to develop a comprehensive plan to provide irrigation and drinking water to the erstwhile Adilabad district.

He suggested that officials should utilize existing infrastructure from old projects to move forward with the new plans and to prepare estimates accordingly.

Furthermore, CM Revanth Reddy stressed the importance of repairing the Sundilla barrage and bringing it back into operation to supply water to the Sripada Yellampalli project.

He directed the officials to prepare the necessary plans and estimates for this purpose. The overall goal is to ensure that the irrigation needs of the state are met efficiently and that the structural integrity of all projects is maintained.
