CM Revanth Reddy To Inaugurate Two New Hostels At OU

Hyderabad, August 17: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will visit Osmania University (OU) on August 21 as the Chief Guest for a major academic programme. The invitation was extended to the CM by University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kumar Mooluguram and Arts College Principal Prof. C. Kasim during their meeting with him today at his residence.

As part of the programme, the Chief Minister will inaugurate two newly constructed hostels at a cost of ₹80 crore, providing accommodation for 1,200 students. He will also lay the foundation stone for two additional hostels that will accommodate 300 students, funded by the Tribal Welfare Department. Currently, OU operates 25 hostels with a capacity of 7,223 students, and these new facilities are expected to significantly enhance student accommodation.

In addition, the CM will launch the construction of a state-of-the-art Digital Library Reading Room with an investment of around ₹10 crore.

The highlight of the event will be the CM’s address at the historic Tagore Auditorium, where he will speak to nearly 1,000 professors and students on the theme: “The Changes Needed in Telangana’s Education Sector – The Government’s Plan.”

Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Adluri Laxman Kumar will also attend the programme.

Notably, this marks the first time in 20 years that a Chief Minister will officially address Osmania University. During the event, the CM is also expected to launch the “CM Research Fellowship” and announce a scheme offering financial support for students participating in foreign study tours, according to Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kumar Mooluguram.
