Hyderabad, Oct.1 (Maxim News): Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has asked Tourism & Sports Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav to make arrangements for conduct of Regatta competitions on the Godavari river at Godavarikhani like the competitions being conducted at Husain Sagar in the capital city.
The Chief Minister congratulated MLA Korukanti Chander for organizing a Boats competition under the name of Telangana Matsyaveera KCR Cup.
He said Telangana, which saw people plunging into the river for collecting coins was now turned out to be organizing Boats competition on the rivers. He also said Chander’s initiative of conducting boat races on the Godavari river should be appreciated.
The Chief Minister said the Godavari river would be alive for 41 km from Sundilla Barrage to Ellampally Barrage under the Kaleshwaram project.
When water was not flowing to its brim, water sports can be conducted, he said. “Tourism and sports fields should be developed by utilizing the situation. Every year, Regatta competitions were being held at Hussain Sagar Lake in Hyderabad. Similar sports events should be organized at Godavarikhani. He wanted boat races and other water sports organized in association with the Sailing Club”, the Chief Minister instructed. (Maxim News)
