Internet, July 2: A fresh development has emerged in the Ayodhya donation controversy, with lawyers from the Faizabad Bar Association filing a police complaint against Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust General Secretary Champat Rai and other trust members.
The complaint was lodged at the Ram Janmabhoomi police station in Ayodhya district against Champat Rai, Anil Mishra, Krishna Dev and Gopal Rao. The move follows the resignation of Champat Rai and Anil Mishra from their trust positions on June 27, reportedly taking moral responsibility amid the controversy.
Ayodhya Donation Controversy
Faizabad Bar Association President Kalika Sharan Mishra said a written complaint had been submitted to the police. He stated that association members sought an acknowledgement copy of the complaint and warned of further protests if it was not provided. According to him, police assured that appropriate action would be taken in accordance with the law.
The controversy gained attention after Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav alleged irregularities in the counting of donations to the Ram Temple Trust. Following the allegations, the Uttar Pradesh government constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT).
An FIR was registered on June 25, and police have arrested eight employees allegedly involved in the donation counting process. Investigators have also recorded Champat Rai’s statement as part of the probe.
The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is scheduled to hold an emergency meeting in Ayodhya on July 6. The trust is expected to discuss the future of Champat Rai and Anil Mishra, while administrative changes may also be considered based on the SIT’s recommendations.
