Cong Victory In Huzurnagar Will Restore Democracy: Uttam

Hyderabad, September 30: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President and Nalgonda MP Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the victory of Congress party in Huzurnagar Assembly by-elections was essential for the restoration of democracy in Telangana State.

He was addressing a meeting of Congress workers on Monday evening at Public Club Grounds. CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, AICC Secretary Saleem Ahmed, MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, MLAs Sridhar Babu and Seethakka, former CLP leader K. Jana Reddy, R. Damodar Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, Balram Naik, Konda Surekha, DCC Presidents and other senior leaders. Several senior TRS leaders joined the Congress party on the occasion.

Addressing the meeting, Uttam Kumar Reddy listed out the development works which he executed as the MLA of Huzurnagar for three terms since 2009. He said right from roads to street lights and from canals to lift irrigation schemes, every bit of development in Huzurnagar came during Congress rule and as the MLA he brought those development schemes. He said TRS was shamelessly seeking votes although it tried to stall the development of Huzurnagar and did not sanction a single project in the last six years.

Uttam Kumar Reddy also touched upon several issues and said that TRS Government did injustice with all sections of the society. Citing an example, he said Madigas, who constitute a large percentage number of population, were denied representation in the State Cabinet. Similarly, he said youth were neither given jobs nor the promise of unemployment allowance has been fulfilled. He said students were denied scholarships and deprived from higher studies. He described the TRS Government as arrogant and dictatorial and said that the victory of Congress would be the first step in restoration of democracy.

Stating that he had served the Indian Air Force as Fighter Pilot for several years, Uttam Kumar Reddy said he would not get intimidated with the threats being issued by TRS ministers and leaders. He said he had served the nation fighting enemies on China and Pakistan borders. He said his sole intention of joining politics was to serve the people which he effectively did for the last two-and-a-half years. He said his wife Padmavathi Reddy, who is now the Congress candidate for Huzurnagar by-elections, was always with him in his efforts to serve the people. Stating that they don’t have any children, he said people of Huzurnagar were like their children and family members and they would dedicate their entire lives serving them.

Padmavathi Reddy, in her speech, said that rowdism and lawless would increase if TRS wins the bye-elections. She said she would not tolerate rowdism and would work to retain the self-respect of women in Huzurnagar.

Other Congress leaders in their speeches said that it was highly regrettable that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao was deploying a huge force and using all resources only to defeat a woman candidate. They said victory of Padmavathi Reddy would signify political empowerment of women while TRS victory would mean nothing for anyone, especially common people. (Maxim News)
