Congress District Committee Race Heats Up in Warangal Ahead of Elections

Hyderabad, April 14: Aspirants in the Indian National Congress are making intense efforts to secure key positions in district committees across the erstwhile Warangal region.

Leaders who missed out on nominated posts are now pushing hard to find a place in the district executive bodies.

Since ministers and MLAs play a decisive role in finalising these committees, aspirants are actively lobbying them. At the same time, the party high command is preparing large committees, keeping upcoming elections in mind. The selection process for most districts, except Mulugu and Bhupalpally, has reached the final stage.

Congress  | Competition Intensifies Among Leaders

The contest has turned competitive, with both senior leaders and newly joined members vying for positions. Second-rung leaders, who have been waiting for recognition since the party came to power, are now determined to secure roles in district committees.

Aspirants are frequently visiting the residences of ministers and MLAs to demonstrate loyalty and seek recommendations. With multiple contenders for each post, the selection process has become highly competitive.

Focus on Elections, Jumbo Committees Likely

Under the leadership of the Telangana PCC, the party is likely to announce jumbo district committees. The move aims to energise party cadres ahead of the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation elections, as well as ZPTC and MPTC polls.

While committees for 17 districts have already been finalised, efforts are ongoing for Mahabubabad, Jangaon, Warangal, and Hanamkonda districts. Screening of candidates is underway due to high competition.

Leaders are also relying on recommendations from MPs, MLCs, and government advisors to strengthen their chances. Many claim they stood by the party during difficult times and now deserve recognition.
