Congress holds Sankalp Satyagraha in Old City to support Rahul Gandhi

Hyderabad, March 27:  Hundreds of Congress activists in Hyderabad, led by DCC President Sameer Waliullah, joined hands in a show of solidarity as part of the nationwide Sankalp Satyagraha protests.

The protest, organized by former Corporator & TPCC General Secretary Cherukuri Srinivas, was held at the Moosarambagh crossroads, near SBI Bank in the Malakpet constituency on Monday.

TPCC Working President & former MP M. Anjan Kumar Yadav, former minister K. Pushpa Leela, TPCC Vice President Chamla Kiran Reddy, TPCC General Secretaries G. Niranjan, Uzma Shakir, and Kanhaiya Lal, Hyderabad Congress Minorities Dept Chairman Arshad Sheikh, Hyderabad contested candidates Feroz Khan Charminar Constituency Incharge Adv Mujeebullah Shareef, Mohd Ashwaq, Mirza Askar Ali Baig, Shabaz Khan, Amir Aslam Shareef, Sadeq Bin Musfair, Wadood, Dinesh, all division and block presidents, and other prominent leaders participated in the programme.

The Congress leaders began their protest by washing the statue of Dr. BR Ambedkar with milk and then it was garlanded. They also submitted a petition to the statute condemning Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification as MP and called it a murder of democracy.

During the protest, Sameer Waliullah said that Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification from the Lok Sabha was unfair and accused the BJP government of using defamation to target opposition leaders and suppress dissent. Waliullah clarified that Rahul Gandhi did not claim all ‘Modis are thieves,’ but only questioned why some thieves, like Nirav and Lalit, have the Modi surname. Waliullah linked the case’s revival to Rahul Gandhi’s questioning of the Adani group in Parliament, stating that it aims to undermine democracy and silence dissent.

Sameer Waliullah praised Rahul Gandhi as an inspiration who consistently works to unite India. He cited the recent Bharat Jodo Yatra, a campaign for national integration, as an example of Gandhi’s commitment to bringing Indians together.

The Hyderabad DCC President said that calling a thief a thief is not defamation and challenged the BJP leaders to prove Rahul Gandhi’s statement wrong when he said Nirav Modi and Lalit Modi plundered the country and Adani was still looting the country’s resources with the blessings of PM Modi. He said Rahul Gandhi never defamed anyone. However, he said that BJP leaders run a factory of lies where they keep generating fake news to cheat the people.

Anjan Kumar Yadav asserted that the Congress party would continue protesting until Rahul Gandhi is reinstated and demanded a JPC probe into the Adani scam. He emphasized the party’s unwavering support for Rahul Gandhi, saying, “We will follow him come what may,” he said.TPCC General Secretary Ch Kiran called for strengthening the Congress party in Hyderabad, as it is poised to regain power in the upcoming elections. He urged Hyderabad Congress to play a crucial role in achieving this goal. (Maxim News)
