MLC KAVITHA SHOCKED: Supreme Court Rejects Plea To Stop ED From Arrest

Delhi/Hyderabad, March, 27 (Maxim News): Ruling BRS MLC K. Kavitha and daughter of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao got a shock in the Supreme court. The Supreme Court rejected Kavitha’s plea that the ED should not arrest her. The Supreme Court refused to grant an interim order on this.

It has become a topic of discussion that the Court did not grant any stay even on the ED summons in the Delhi Liquor Case. The Supreme Court has agreed to an inquiry into the questioning of women in the ED office under PMLA. (Prevention of Money Laundering Act)

It may be recalled that ED first interrogated MLC Kavitha in the Delhi liquor scam case on March 11. After that, it issued a notice to appear again on March 16. But Kavitha filed a petition in the Supreme Court on March 14 challenging her being called to the ED’s office even though women should be interrogated at their homes as per the law. On March 15th her lawyers requested the bench of CJI Justice DY Chandrachud to conduct an urgent inquiry. The CJI, however, refused to do so and said that they will inquire on March 24 of this month. But the case was not heard that day. The bench of Justice Ajay Rastogi and Justice Bela M. Trivedi took up the investigation of this case today. (Maxim News)
