Hyderabad, Sept 26 (Maxim News): Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar said Ganesh immersion processions across the four commissionerates of Bhagyanagaram were completed peacefully and successfully.
Speaking to the media in Hyderabad on Saturday, Sajjanar congratulated police personnel and officials from various departments for their efforts. He thanked everyone from Home Guards to IPS officers who worked for the smooth conduct of the festival.
Police Worked for 48 Hours Without Sleep
Sajjanar said police personnel were brought from districts across Telangana to strengthen security arrangements for the Ganesh immersion celebrations. He said the immersions of the Khairatabad Ganesh and Balapur Lambodara were completed on schedule without any untoward incidents.
He also thanked the Bhagyanagar Utsav Samiti for its cooperation during the celebrations.
According to Sajjanar, the number of devotees visiting major Ganesh idols increased this year. He said more than 30 lakh devotees visited the Khairatabad Ganesh, while around 15 lakh devotees visited the Balapur Lambodara.
The Commissioner said police personnel worked continuously for nearly 48 hours to manage the processions, traffic and security arrangements.
Sajjanar, however, said police had identified some shortcomings during the celebrations and would take steps to address them in the coming days.
He said the use of coloured paper during the processions created difficulties and indicated that measures could be taken to restrict its use during future celebrations.
He also pointed to the problem of garbage being dumped in areas where food was distributed to devotees. He said steps would be taken to improve cleanliness and waste management during future events.
The Commissioner further warned that action would be taken against people under the influence of drugs who create disturbances during the processions.
Sajjanar said the police would review the arrangements and work to provide better services during future Ganesh celebrations.
