Hyderabad, November 20(Maxim News): Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy proposed that funds should be raised for the RTC employees who are on strike for the last 48 days.
Gudur Narayana Reddy, in a media statement on Wednesday, said that the RTC employees and their families were in deep financial trouble due to non-payment of salaries since September. “Nearly 50,000 families are suffering due to in-human attitude of TRS Government. Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao cannot wash off his hands by calling RTC a loss making organisations. The employees have not only served the people for several decades, but also gave several sacrifices for the creation of Telangana. We cannot simply leave them to their fate. They are not victims of circumstances, but fell prey to the arrogant attitude of KCR. Therefore, it is the duty of all citizens of Telangana to help the RTC employees,” he said.
While announcing that he would initiate the fund raising by making first contribution, Gudur Narayana Reddy said RTC employees were fighting for their justified rights and they deserved full support from every individuals who believes in democracy. He said he would chalk out the fund raising drive in a few days and the amount collected could be handed over to the unions for distribution among employees. “Many RTC employees have not paid their rents, school/college fee or EMIs of various loans since September. They are also unable to take care of basic expenses on healthcare and many families might not be having money to bear the expenses for food. KCR’s in-human attitude has pushed thousands of employees into huge debts and ruined their personal lives. This will turn into a big human tragedy if immediate measures are not taken,” he said.
The Congress leader expressed confidence that the RTC employees would win the legal battle and get justice. Till that happens, he said everyone should support them in whatever way they could to ensure that they get basic minimum support. He said KCR was planning to force RTC employees surrender to his will by engineering financial crisis. The Chief Minister was apparently trying to set an example out of RTC staff to intimidate employees of other departments so as to establish his dictatorial rule. However, he said that justice would prevail and KCR would fail in his attempt to turn over 50,000 employees and their families into his slaves. Stating that nearly 27 RTC employees died due to heart attack, suicide or other diseases related to mental trauma caused by the Chief Minister. He said the families of those employees should be paid appropriate ex-gratia and one member of their family should be given a government jobs.
Gudur Narayana Reddy also urged the banks and other financial institutions to keep the loan accounts of all RTC employees in suspension mode. He said that the employees were unable to clear their EMIs due to non-payment of salaries since September. Therefore, they should be not treated as ‘defaulters’. Instead, their accounts should be placed in suspension till their issues are resolved and no additional charges for delayed payment or cheque bounce should be levied.
The Congress leader appealed to the people to support the RTC employees and urged the State Government to resolve the issue by initiating talks with the unions. (Maxim News)
