Congress leaders hold novel protest against hike in LPG prices

Hyderabad, March 4: Telangana Congress leaders strongly condemned the BJP Government at the Centre for the recent hike in the prices of LPG cylinders.

Led by AICC Telangana Incharge Secretary Nadeem Javeed, TPCC Minorities Dept Chairman Shaik Abdullah Sohail, OBC Dept Chairman Nuthi Shrikanth, Youth Congress leader Anil Kumar Yadav, TPCC Minorities Dept Vice-Chairman Arham Adil, and other leaders participated in the novel protest of cooking on wooden stove organized by Hyderabad Congress Minorities Dept Chairman Arshad Shaikh near Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday. The Congress leaders also burnt the effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing anger over the rising prices of petrol, diesel, and cooking gas cylinders.

Speaking on the occasion, Abdullah Sohail said that the price of a cooking gas cylinder which was Rs. 400 in 2014 has now increased to nearly Rs. 1200. This is a significant burden on the common people, he said while accusing the BJP Government of not considering the plight of the poor and middle-class families who are hit hard by the rising prices of essential commodities.

“The hike in cooking gas cylinder prices affects poor and middle-class families as it consumes a significant portion of their monthly income. These families rely on cooking gas for their daily cooking needs, and a hike in prices means that they will have to spend more on fuel and less on other essential commodities. For families living on a tight budget, this can lead to financial distress and difficulties in meeting other basic needs,” Abdullah Sohail said.

He said that the Congress leaders held a novel protest of cooking food on wooden stoves to demonstrate the difficulties that families face due to the rising prices of cooking gas cylinders. He emphasized the need for the government to consider the plight of the common people and take measures to alleviate their burden.

Abdullah Sohail said that the hike in cooking gas cylinder prices regularly was a matter of concern for many people, especially those who are struggling to make ends meet. He said that the Congress party would intensify its agitation against the rising inflation in the country. (Maxim News)
