Congress party DCC appointments: Congress party or Reddy party?
Congress party DCC appointments | Hyderabad, Oct 28: The BC Samaj State Secretary and Joint Mahabubnagar District President, Modal Srinivas Sagar, has strongly criticised the Congress party for what he called its reversal on District Congress Committee (DCC) appointments.
He accused the party of sidelining the Backward Classes (BCs) and favouring relatives and family members of influential legislators and officials.

Sagar condemned the recent remarks by PCC Chief Mahesh Kumar Goud, who reportedly hinted that DCC responsibilities could be given to the family members of MLAs, corporation chairpersons, and other public representatives.
Sagar warned that such a move would further isolate the BC community, which has been demanding fair representation in party structures and leadership roles.
“The Congress has once again proven itself to be a Reddy-dominated party,” Sagar alleged. “Most of the MLAs and corporation chairpersons in the state are already from the Reddy community, and now the same pattern is evident in the DCC appointments too,” he added.
He said this decision reflects the party’s growing disconnect from the BC community, which forms a major section of the state’s population.
Sagar says DCC policy reversal ignores BC representation and breaks party promises
Sagar highlighted that these developments come at a time when several social movements across Telangana are advocating 42 percent reservations for BCs in local body elections, education, and employment opportunities. “Instead of aligning with the aspirations of BC communities, the Congress has chosen to neglect them yet again,” he stated.
He also recalled the party’s earlier commitment that no two members of the same family should hold political or organisational posts simultaneously.
He accused the leadership of going back on its word by allowing MLAs’ relatives to occupy DCC positions. “Previously, the party claimed MLAs and their family members would not be appointed to DCC roles.
Now, it says anyone loyal to the party can hold posts, completely contradicting its earlier stance. This clearly shows that injustice is being done to the BCs once again,” he said.
Sagar’s remarks have sparked strong reactions among BC organisations and grassroot workers, who see this as yet another instance of political exclusion.
He urged the party leadership to reconsider its decisions and uphold the principle of equal representation in political appointments.
