Congress pays rich tributes to Moulana Azad on 133rd birth anniversary

Hyderabad, Nov. 11: Congress party paid rich tributes to Moulana Abul Kalam Azad, freedom fighter and 1st Education Minister of independent India, on his 133rd birth anniversary.

Led by chairman Shaik Abdullah Sohail, TPCC Minorities Department celebrated the occasion as National Education Day at a grand scale.

Special Note Books were released on the occasion while Best Teachers were also given awards. The Congress activists also distributed books, stationery items, food, fruits and other essentials among the poor and needy people.

TPCC President A. Revanth Reddy release a special commemorative Note Book with pictures of Moulana Azad at his residence. Speaking on the occasion Revanth Reddy said Moulana Azad’s contribution during freedom movement and in building a strong nation post-independence could not be forgotten.

The TPCC president said Moulana Azad laid the foundation of modern education by establishing institutions like the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the University Grants Commission (UGC). Inspired by the ideals of Moulana Azad, he said that the previous Congress governments took initiatives to impart education to all.

Later, TPCC Minorities Dept organised an event in Gandhi Bhavan premises to distribute 5,000 notebooks and felicitate 21 best teachers.

Abdullah Sohail said that Moulana Azad had laid a strong foundation for primary, secondary and higher education immediately after independence.

Moulana Azad was such a great visionary that no other country could match the stature and quality of IITs, UGC, or other institutions even today. He said Moulana Azad was against all forms of communalism and motivated everyone to believe in the ideals of secularism.

The party chairman said that teachings of Moulana Azad were highly relevant in the present circumstances. He appealed to the Congress cadre to follow the principles and ideals of Moulana Azad if they want to succeed in their lives.
