Congress will never stop welfare and development measures: Gudur

Hyderabad, October 5 (Maxim News): Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy has strongly condemned caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao for misleading the people on the issue of distribution of Bathukamma sarees.

Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Friday, Gudur Narayana Reddy said that he had written a letter to the Election Commission of India on September 28 asking it to remove the pictures of KCR from the covers of Bathukamma sarees in view of implementation of Model Code of Conduct in the State. He said he had demanded distribution of sarees through Fair Price Shops. However, he said that the Election Commission has denied permission for distribution sarees in view of elections. “KCR, while addressing a meeting at Nalgonda, blamed me for stopping of saree distribution. He is totally misleading the people on the issue,” he said.

Gudur Narayana Reddy said KCR too should have requested the Election Commission to distribute sarees through Fair Price Shops by removing his picture from their covers. “Poor women deserve to get sarees on Bathukamma festival. It is their right. However, KCR is trying to play politics using Election Commission’s denial of permission for saree distribution,” he said adding that people would not trust KCR’s bogus propaganda.

The Congress leader also accused KCR of using foul and abusive language against the opposition leaders. Referring to the remarks made by KCR against TPCC President Uttam Kumar Reddy, he asked KCR to realise that power would never remain permanent. “Today you are in power and tomorrow you might be in opposition. Everyone will have a 31st December and New Year Day in their lives. Therefore, one must learn to give respect to opposition. Too much of arrogance is not a good practice in a democracy as people always reject arrogant politician,” he said.

Stating that the Congress party would never stop any welfare and development activity, Gudur Narayana Reddy said that the distribution of Rythu Bandhu cheques should be done under the direct supervision of Election Commission and official machinery without any political interference or influence.
